Mr. McGlashan is Executive Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer, Enterprise Risk & Portfolio Management, BMO Financial Group, and was appointed to this position July 1, 2005.
In 2003, he was appointed to his most recent position of Executive Vice-President and Head of Corporate Risk Management. Prior to that he was Executive Vice-President, Commercial Banking, responsible for servicing companies with loan requirements in excess of $10 million and annual revenues of up to $1 billion.
A native of British Columbia, Mr. McGlashan joined the Bank of Montreal in August, 1972, in a Training Program as an Administration Manager in Port Alberni, B.C. Following several Account Management positions in Western Canada, in both Personal & Commercial Financial Services and Corporate & Institutional Financial Services, he was appointed Senior Manager, Credit, in Corporate & Government Banking, Chicago. In 1988, Mr. McGlashan was appointed as Vice-President, Commercial & Industrial Banking, Chicago, and then in 1990, as Vice-President, Transportation & Forest Products for the U.S. In July 1992, he was promoted to Senior Vice-President, Personal & Commercial Lending Services in Toronto, and in January 1994 to Senior Vice-President British Columbia Division. In February 1999 he was appointed to the role of Senior Vice-President, Commercial Mid-Market Banking.
Mr. McGlashan is a Certified Management Accountant and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
Mr. McGlashan is married to Cindy and they have two grown children.
