Simon Fish is Executive
Vice-President and General Counsel of BMO Financial Group.
Mr. Fish is responsible
for the overall legal affairs of the bank worldwide including the compliance,
corporate security and corporate secretarial functions. His responsibilities
include mergers and acquisitions, banking regulation, securities, corporate
governance, and commercial litigation. He serves as counsel to the office
of the Chairman and the Board of Directors. He is a member of the bank's
Managing Committee.
Before joining BMO, he served as Executive
Vice-President and General Counsel of Vale Inco Limited and as Vice-President,
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Shell Canada. Earlier in his career,
Mr. Fish practiced business law with
an international law firm.
Mr. Fish received his undergraduate
degrees in business and law from the University of Cape Town. He holds a
master of laws degree from the Washington College of Law at American University,
and is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program for Management
Development (PMD).
Mr. Fish is a director of the Association of Canadian General Counsel. He is a trustee of the Hilton College Canada Foundation and he sits on the Advisory Board of LIFE – the
international children's food relief program.
