| BMO Capital Markets Hires Veteran Natural Gas Analyst for North American Coverage TORONTO, April 16, 2008 – BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE, TSX: BMO), has hired Carl L. Kirst as a senior research analyst to the firm’s Equity Research Group. Based in Houston, Mr. Kirst will cover the North American natural gas industry, including pipeline, processing, and utility distribution companies, in a variety of structures ranging from C-corporations to master limited partnerships (MLPs). “With Carl Kirst covering natural gas companies in both the U.S. and Canada, we continue to build upon our cross-border strategy of providing our clients with relevant and integrated investment ideas,” said Jack Blackstock, Co-Head of Equity Research, BMO Capital Markets. “Carl’s experience and talent as a highly respected analyst will complement the coverage of both Mike Worms, our U.S. electric utilities analyst, and Mike McGowan, our Canadian small cap gas and electric utilities analyst as well as our full Energy research team located in Denver and Calgary.” With more than 10 years of sell-side research experience as a natural gas analyst, Mr. Kirst has worked for Merrill Lynch, Jefferies, and most recently Credit Suisse Securities.
