| 2008 BMO Farm Family Award Winners Honoured at the Calgary Stampede
CALGARY, AB, July 7, 2008 – The 2008 BMO Farm Family Awards were presented today to 18 hard-working families who have made a difference in Alberta’s agriculture industry. The southern Alberta farm families were selected by Alberta Agriculture Service Board representatives, and were recognized for their outstanding contributions by the title sponsor BMO Bank of Montreal at an awards ceremony at the Stampede. “The Farm Family Awards are an excellent way to raise awareness of the importance of agriculture, not only historically at the Calgary Stampede, but to the overall economy of Alberta,” said Ted McCarron, Senior Vice President, Prairies Division, BMO Bank of Montreal. “These families are outstanding examples of how far farm management has come and the tremendous contributions these families make to enriching rural life in Alberta.”. The Awards focus on the importance of farming as a diverse and compelling business sector, the unique ideals and opportunities of rural living and the manner in which farm families are actively involved in their community. “With the agricultural roots of the Stampede so deeply entwined with the historic settlement of the West, we are proud to recognize families who uphold the traditions of the past while helping the province’s future economic growth,” said Dr. David Chalack, Vice-chairman of the Calgary Stampede. The families receive free admission to Stampede Park, a BMO Bank of
