Harris Bank Selects Fast-Growing Aurora To Kick Off Major Expansion Program
AURORA, Illinois, September 23, 2002
Harris Bank has chosen Aurora, one of the largest cities in Illinois, for the next phase of its retail expansion in Chicagoland.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for September 24 will designate the opening of a new 6,500-square-foot branch located at Orchard and Indian Trail. The location is the new main office of Harris Bank Aurora, N.A., and marks the beginning of Harris Bank’s plan to significantly expand its branch network throughout Chicagoland over the next several years.
Approximately 35 miles west of Chicago, Aurora is a rapidly growing community with a population that makes it one of the three largest cities in Illinois.
“We are proud to be part of this community’s tremendous growth and success,” said Bill Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Harris Bank Aurora, N.A.. “In looking at options for expanding our service offering, Aurora’s diverse population was a perfect fit. The combination of residential, small business, large corporate and industrial growth that the city of Aurora is experiencing mirrors the growth within Harris Bank’s lines of business.”
Johnson added, “By the middle of next year Harris plans to have a total of five branches in Aurora, giving it the geographic reach to serve customers throughout the region.”
“We are pleased to see Harris Bank expand its operations in one of the largest cities in the state of Illinois,” said Sherman L. Jenkins, Executive Director of the Aurora Economic Development Commission. “The explosive growth occurring in this region is good news for Harris and the city of Aurora.”
Harris Bank has been serving the Aurora community since 1961. In addition to a community-based Board of Directors, a number of the bank’s officers and employees are longtime community members, and many are actively involved in a variety of charitable organizations.
The opening of the new Aurora branch brings Harris Bank’s branch distribution network to 145 locations across Chicagoland. Within the next five years, Harris Bank plans to add approximately 50 additional locations.
“We’re excited about launching our expansion program here in Aurora,” said Frank Techar, President and Chief Executive Officer, Harris Bank. “We offer unique strength across a full spectrum of personal and business banking, wealth management and corporate banking. Building our Chicagoland presence makes Harris products and services even more accessible to current clients, and to new communities and customers.”
Harris Bank, with $28 billion in assets, is one of the largest community bank networks in Illinois, a nationally recognized provider of private client and personal trust services, and a premier Midwest mid-market corporate bank. Harris Bank is a member of BMO Financial Group (NYSE, TSE: BMO). For more information, please visit www.harrisbank.com.
