BMO selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

September 2009 – BMO Financial Group (BMO) has been selected for the fifth consecutive year for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) North America Index. This recognition places BMO in the leading 20% in terms of sustainability of the 600 biggest North American companies in the Dow Jones World Index.

BMO named as one of the Best Employers for New Canadians

Best Employers for New Canadians 2009

BMO has been named as one of the Best Employers for New Canadians for 2009 by Mediacorp Inc. This special designation recognizes the nation’s best employers for recent immigrants and the interesting programs they offer to assist new Canadians in making the transition to a new workplace and life in Canada.

BMO wins prestigious Data Governance Award

June 2009 – On June 15, 2009, The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) announced the 2009 Best Practices Awards winners and BMO was recognized in the data governance category. Judges evaluated all submissions on four criteria: business impact, maturity, innovation, and relevance. The judging panel included IT practitioners, consultants, industry analysts, and institute researchers.

BMO Capital Markets wins the “Best Live Event” category at the 2009 American Business Awards

June 2009 – BMO Capital Markets was the winner in the “Best Live Event” category at the 2009 American Business Awards in New York. The firm won the award in recognition of our Global Metals and Mining Conference, which provides an unparalleled client experience for over 1,000 people from 21 countries.

BMO Capital Markets was also a Finalist in three other categories at this year’s awards: Best Marketing Department; Best Marketing Brochure (Global Metals & Mining brochure); and Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program (Equity Through Education).

Also known as the “Stevie” awards, the American Business Awards competition is open to companies of all sizes, and in all sectors, across the United States. The 2009 awards drew a total of more than 2,500 entries, with the final winners round being judged by nearly a dozen high-profile business executives.

Corporate Knights Best 50 Best Corporate Citizens Ranking 2009

Corporate Knights 2009 June 2009 – For the seventh consecutive year, BMO Financial Group was recognized for its leadership in corporate social responsibility ranked by Corporate Knights as one of the Best 50 Corporate Citizens.

Harris ranked highest in Midwest region in a tie for customer satisfaction in retail banking

May 19, 2009 – Harris was ranked highest in retail banking in the Midwest region for customer satisfaction in a tie, in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Retail Banking Satisfaction StudySM.

BMO Capital Markets and Harris honored as top contributors for Chicago United Way

May 2009 – Harris and BMO Capital Markets were recognized as a Top Ten contributor for the United Way Metro Chicago 2008 campaign. The firm was also honored with two awards: the Innovative Promotion Materials award which recognized the inventive marketing efforts that were employed to promote LIVE UNITED, and the Volunteerism Pillar award, which recognizes the company that best encourages and supports its employees’ involvement through hands-on volunteerism.

BMO Capital Markets analysts recognized in The Wall Street Journal Best on the Street analyst survey

May 2009 – The Wall Street Journal’s annual financial analyst ranking, “Best on the Street”, reviews nearly 50 major industry groups, ranking the top analysts within each business segment. The stock pickers in each industry are ranked by their recommendation-performance scores for 2008.

Four BMO Capital Markets analysts were recognized for their stock picking abilities in biotechnology; business and industrial services; household and personal products; and retailers: broadline and apparel.

Shane Fildes of BMO Capital Markets named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™

May 1, 2009 – Shane Fildes, the head of BMO Capital Markets’ Canadian Energy Group in Calgary, has been named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™ for 2009. Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ is a national program founded and managed by The Caldwell Partners to celebrate our leaders of today and tomorrow, and to honour Canadians who have reached a significant level of success but have not yet reached the age of 40.

BMO Mutual Funds wins Lipper Award
BMO Dividend Fund receives top honours at 2009 Lipper Awards

April 2009 – BMO Dividend Fund is presented with the 2009 Lipper Award for best fund over ten years in the Canadian Dividend & Equity Income.

The Lipper Fund Awards program highlights funds that have excelled in delivering consistently strong risk-adjusted performance relative to peers. Awards are presented to funds in 21 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

BMO Capital Markets places first for Equity Research in the 2009 Thomson Reuters StarMine Canadian analyst awards

April 2009 – BMO Capital Markets placed first in the 2009 Thomson Reuters StarMine Canadian analyst awards. StarMine is an independent firm that measures the performance of analysts based on the returns of their stock picking recommendations and the accuracy of their earnings estimates. The 2009 awards apply to 2008 calendar-year performance and estimates for Canadian-based companies in 20 sectors. In an exceptionally volatile year, BMO Capital Markets won the award for Top Broker by collecting 17 individual awards.

BMO Capital Markets wins FX Awards in China

March 2009 – BMO’s Guangzhou branch was named “Most Popular Market Maker” in 2008 – as determined by a popularity vote among market makers. The three runners up were all Chinese banks – Industrial Bank of China, Bank of China and Bank of Communications.

BMO was also named "Best Market Maker" for 2008. This award, which is determined by the China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS), takes into account technical indices/indicators, market votes and scoring by regulators. BMO was the only foreign bank to win this award.

In addition, BMO was the only bank to be awarded "Best non-USD Market Maker” in 2008, as we have the largest share of volume in non-USD CNY crosses.

BMO Mutual Funds and BMO InvestorLine recognized for customer service

February 2009 – BMO Mutual Funds and BMO InvestorLine have been recognized for exceptional customer service during 2008 by Dalbar Inc., a premier national research firm which surveys customer service for many investment companies.
