Michael W. Lewis is an Executive Vice President at Harris, and President of the bank’s City Region. His responsibilities include strategically integrating the management of business segments across the network of Harris bank branches in the city of Chicago. He has specific accountability for growing the banks commercial business, community development and consumer loans and services sectors throughout the region.
Mike joined Harris as a commercial banking trainee in 1976 and was promoted to commercial banking officer in 1979. He was named assistant vice president in 1981 and subsequently named vice president in 1983. In 1987, Mike was promoted to team leader in the Special Industries Group and he assumed responsibility for the Healthcare, Education and Tax-Exempt Institutions Team. He was elected senior vice president and market executive in November 1994, and was promoted to executive vice president in November 1998. Mike was appointed President of Harris’ City Region in April of 2003.
An active member of Chicago’s business and civic community, Mike sits on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Chicago United, and on the Board of Advisors for Chicago’s branch of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). Mike also serves as a member of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association, the Zoning Board for the village of Olympia Fields, the Urban Bankers Forum and the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. Mike is a member of the Black MBA Association, the Alumni Associations of Indiana University and Western Michigan Universityand Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
