When is the Bank's quiet period?
The Bank observes a quiet period commencing one week before the end of each quarter. It lasts until a news release is issued to disclose results for the quarter just ended. During the quiet period, the Bank does not initiate any meetings with the investor community, but we do respond to unsolicited inquiries concerning publicly disclosed or non-material matters.
If during the quiet period, the Bank is invited to participate in investor community meetings or conferences, the Head of Investor Relations determines if it is advisable to accept these invitations. If accepted, we exercise extreme caution to avoid selective disclosure of any material, non-public information and any discussion of earnings and current quarter performance.

Susan Cohen, Dundee Securities during Q3 2004 Earnings Conference Call: Could you give us an update on the Investment Banking Pipeline?
Yvan Bourdeau, President and COO, BMO Nesbitt Burns: The Pipeline is reasonable and similar to last quarter particularly in the M&A and advisory fee business. However both the debt and equity origination pipeline has slowed down somewhat since the second half of the third quarter. It is difficult to assess at this point in time whether market conditions will improve sufficiently in Q4 to bring the debt and equity origination pipeline to a similar level as in Q2.
Where is the gain/loss on loan sales recorded?
The difference between loan value (face amount less allowance) and proceeds goes through the income statement. It is recorded in the Provision for Credit Losses if the gain or loss relates to credit, which is typically the case. It is recorded in Other Non-Interest Revenue if the gain or loss relates to other market factors, usually changes in interest rates. In Q3 2004, the $9MM gain was recorded in the PCL line.
