Calgary,
May 1, 2009 – Shane Fildes, the head of BMO Capital Markets’ Canadian
Energy Group in Calgary, has been named to Canada’s Top 40 Under
40 ™ for 2009. Shane and fellow recipients will be honoured at an
awards luncheon benefiting the Futures Fund Scholarship Program in Toronto
May 5.
Canada's Top 40 Under 40 ™ is
a national program founded and managed by The Caldwell Partners to
celebrate our leaders of today and tomorrow,
and to honour Canadians who have reached a significant level of success
but have not yet reached the age of 40. It is designed to promote mentorship
and professional development by introducing these leaders to the established
business community and by promoting them as role models for young Canadians.
Fildes, who joined BMO in
1993, is responsible for leading the firm’s
Investment & Corporate Banking operations in the Canadian energy
market as well as managing the firm’s Calgary office. He has extensive
experience in public debt and equity underwritings and has also worked
on numerous financial advisory assignments involving mergers, acquisitions,
divestitures and restructurings. Shane also has significant experience
in the Canadian income fund sector and has primary account coverage responsibility
for a majority of the large royalty trusts based in Calgary.
"Shane has successfully led our BMO Capital Markets business in
Calgary since 2004. He has been a presence in the energy sector and in
the city’s business and charitable communities," said Bill
Downe, President and CEO, BMO Financial Group. "Our clients benefit
from being able to work with such talented individuals – and the
success of our clients is extremely important to us. Congratulations,
Shane. On behalf of all of us at BMO, we are proud you’ve received
this recognition.”
